We spoke to Seren about her very special wedding day at King Arthur Hotel.

For Seren and Gareth, their love story is a perfect example of serendipity. Their first meeting was purely coincidental, a brief interaction amidst the hustle and bustle of a Gower wedding. Little did they know, this chance encounter would set the stage for a lifelong romance. Fast forward a decade, and Seren and Gareth stood in the very venue where their paths first crossed, exchanging vows in front of family and friends.
Tell us about the first time you met?
We met in the King Arthur Hotel in the Avalon suite, it was the summer of 2014. Gareth was working behind the bar and I was waitressing, the staff were sneaky and set us up putting me behind the bar and asking Gareth to train me up… the rest is history. Of course we had to get back behind the very same bar during our own wedding and pull some pints.
What was your wedding theme?
We didn’t really have a specific colour scheme as such, I wanted there to be pops of different colours from the flowers and my florist ‘The Witching Flower Florist’ absolutely nailed the brief. I went for different shades of greens for the bridesmaid dresses, my bridesmaids loved being able to pick their own shade and style and they all came together perfectly.
We did the majority of the decorations ourselves but did have a helping hand from ‘Lavent Decor’ who did our beautiful welcome sign and arch. We went for a rustic, country theme, I really enjoyed having craft nights with my bridesmaids and writing all the signs.
How many times did you try on your dress before you knew it was the one?
I tried on about six or seven in total but I knew from my Maids of Honour & Mums faces that the second dress was the one. It wasn’t what I thought I’d go for at all but absolutely loved it on and I was so comfortable in it.
Most memorable moment of the day?
We absolutely loved every second of our day, the overall memory is how much fun we had, we were constantly laughing and dancing. If I had to pick one though I think it would be seeing all our friends and family soaking in the sunshine in the courtyard listening to our amazing acoustic singer Rhys Thomas John, everyone looked so happy and relaxed taking it all in.
We also had some pretty funny games during the speeches and after the meal, seeing everyone on their feet joining in and the expressions on people’s faces as the competition heated up was brilliant.
What song did you walk down the aisle to?
I walked down the aisle to Noah Reid’s version of ‘Simply the Best’ from Schitts Creek, my friend slowed it down for me so it was the right pace for us to walk to!

Why the King Arthur Hotel?
It’s not often people are able to get married in the exact room they first met, it’s such a special place to us and holds so many amazing memories. Having both worked there we knew first hand of their high standards for quality and service so I knew that I could totally relax and enjoy the day safe in the knowledge that the staff would have absolutely everything under control, and we would be eating fantastic food.
We had the best day ever, all our guests couldn’t stop talking about our wonderful wedding coordinator Annelise and her fantastic team of staff, everyone was so well looked after.
Tell us about some of your suppliers?
Each and every one of our suppliers were amazing. I’ve mentioned some already but I will repeat how amazing my florist was The Witching Flower Florist, but we also had the best photographer in Michelle Huggleston. Michelle was so relaxed it felt like I’d known her a lifetime, she slotted into the day perfectly and captured the most beautiful photographs for us along with John her second shooter. I really recommend getting a second shooter if your photographer offers that service, it was so good to capture the boys getting ready and have so many shots of the guests whilst we were off having our couple photos.
We had the Hat & The Fiddle as our evening band and OMG they were they good. The dance floor was constantly full, nobody could keep still. We had so much fun dancing the night away with our friends and family, there were a lot of interesting moves from the Hopkin brothers. Justin French Williams (the King Arthur DJ) filmed our evening party for us and put together such a great video, usually you only have an hour or so captured but we had the whole night it’s amazing.
What advice would give to other couples leading up to their big day?
Try and get away for a day or two on the lead up and totally relax, there’s often so much going on beforehand it can become a little stressful. Take some time to recharge and spend some time together getting excited.
Try not to stress over the little things, a cliche I know, but on the day you will be having so much fun you won’t be thinking about the little details so don’t let them consume you on the run up. Most importantly, take it all in, soak it all up and have fun.
