Not many people know this, but we’re going to let you in on a yuletide secret: Santa Claus has been using The Royal Mint as his British base for hundreds of years!
You see, Santa and his elves are at their busiest at this time of year and the workshop in the North Pole is often overflowing with toys. This is where we come in: Santa puts his trust in our organisation, which has a proud 1,100-year history of unrivalled craftsmanship, to help.
Magical Christmas Moments at The Royal Mint
For Christmas 2022, an event returns to The Royal Mint Experience that combines the creation of coins with the making of toys, as you take a tour with an extra sprinkling of festive spirit. You will discover the intriguing tale of how the tradition of hanging stockings up on Christmas Eve, ready to receive your wonderful presents on Christmas morning, was inspired by jolly old St Nicholas and a sack of gold coins. You will also step into the satellite workshop at The Royal Mint that is as warm and cosy as you would expect but with a special twist. Here, you’ll discover the different stations where the elves work hard to make the toys that will light up little faces with joy and delight on Christmas morning.

Celebrate your visit with a chance to strike your very own coin, the perfect memento of your festive visit. Santa has yet to decide on this year’s coin, keep an eye out for this special announcement coming soon!
Meet Santa
Your festive tour ends with a visit to Santa’s grotto to meet Father Christmas himself. Take a photo of your child with Santa.
