Hear the BBC NOW’s Carol for Christmas Concert on Christmas Day
In a sold out Christmas Carols concert at the beautiful Brangwyn Hall, local school children joined singers from BBC National Chorus of Wales on stage, accompanied by musicians from BBC National Orchestra of Wales (BBC NOW).
The children’s choir consisted of pupils from Sketty Primary, Penllergaer Primary,
Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr Brynymor and Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr Tan-Y -Lan and there were
proud parents aplenty in the audience.
The Brangwyn Hall looked especially resplendent, festooned with festive decorations
and several large Christmas trees, providing the perfect backdrop for this family
friendly concert.
Elliott King, Cabinet Member for Culture, Human Rights and Equalities said,
“This year was our first in hosting this prestigious event and it was particularly
significant as it marked the centenary of the BBC’s first broadcast from Swansea.
The audience was treated to an insight to how a live recording for broadcast works,
as well as readings from some BBC personalities.”
Sassy Hicks, Head of Marketing and Audiences at BBC NOW said,
"BBC NOW extends a heartfelt thank you to all the schools and children who joined
us for this festive concert—it was pure joy! Sharing the stage with these talented
young performers was an unforgettable experience for all of us at BBC NOW. Meeting so many proud parents, friends, and families made the day even more
special—a true celebration of Christmas spirit!"
The concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio Wales at 8am and 5pm Christmas Day,
giving listeners a chance to hear this fantastic celebration of Welsh talent, right here
on our doorsteps in Swansea.
