London Concertante will present A Night at the Opera by Candlelight on 12th April 2025 at Llandaff Cathedral. The concert will feature a selection of well-known opera arias and overtures by Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, and Mozart, performed by the acclaimed orchestra and three distinguished opera singers.
Under the gentle glow of hundreds of flickering candles, the programme will include Puccini’s Nessun Dorma, Delibes’ Flower Duet, and Verdi’s La donna è mobile, alongside selected arias from Madame Butterfly, Turandot, Tosca, Carmen, and more.
Three magnificent voices:
Claire Wild (Soprano) has performed with leading opera companies, including Opera North, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera, and the Royal Opera House. She has a strong background in contemporary music and has premiered works with the Psappha Ensemble and Royal Opera House.
Mezzo-soprano Flora McIntosh has performed extensively across the UK and is known for her work in both opera and concert settings. Her notable roles include Waltraute (Die Walküre), Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), and the title role in Carmen. She has performed with Longborough Festival Opera, English National Ballet, and OperaUpClose. In 2022, she was appointed Artistic Director of OperaUpClose and will direct a new production of Riders to the Sea in 2025.
Tenor Dominick Felix has performed with companies including Garsington Opera, Pegasus Opera, and Wexford Festival Opera. His recent roles include Gamekeeper (Rusalka), Rodriguez (Don Quichotte), and Mime (Das Rheingold) for English National Opera. He has also performed contemporary works, including roles in Battistelli’s Wake and Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District with Birmingham Opera.
