The best way to enjoy Cardiff's walking trails

There’s two great ways to make the most of Cardiff’s green spaces, printable trails and digital app, both will turn your walk into a fun, family adventure the kids will love.

(Outdoor Cardiff)

Wildlife Explorer Trails

Summer is the best time of year to discover the beauty and diversity of Cardiff’s amazing green spaces. From city centre parks buzzing with life to beautiful woodlands filled with hidden wildlife, there’s lots of options for a fun, family day out that gets the little ones outside and best of all they are all completely free.

Cardiff has a huge variety of plants and animals that can be found along the explorer trails, making it really easy to learn about what animals, insects and habitats exist along your nature walk.

If you print out a trail map, you can follow the posts and make a rubbing of each plaque, remember to take a crayon or pencil with you. Find as many posts as you can and learn a fun fact about each item you have found and see if you can spot them along the way. There are 12 trails across Cardiff to explore, all of which you can download from the Outdoor Cardiff website.
