The Spongebob Musical is the hot family ticket of the summer
Gareth Gates and Divina de Campo star in the UK premiere of the Tony Award nominated, award-winning, THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL, the must-see show for family audiences at Wales Millennium Centre this summer.
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea and is the hottest star on Broadway? It’s none other than SpongeBob SquarePants who has taken the world of musical theatre by storm with a stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic show that comes to Wales Millennium Centre, 6th - 10th June.
Starring musical superstar Gareth Gates, as Squidward, who shot to fame in 2002, coming runner up in the UK’s first Pop Idol. He went on to sell over 5-million records worldwide including five UK number-one singles. His theatre credits include playing Marius in the both the West End and 25th Anniversary Tour of Les Misérables and Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the West End and on tour.
Ru-Paul’s Drag Race legend Divina De Campo takes on the role of super-villain Sheldon J. Plankton. The seasoned drag queen is known for her high soprano and four octave range, Divina has been featured on ITV’s The Voice and the BBC’s All Together Now. Her critically acclaimed theatre credits include Mary Sunshine in Chicago and most recently in Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL is written by Kyle Jarrow and features a tidal wave of original songs by the world’s most iconic rock and pop artists, including Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I., with songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley.
When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world.
