Ghost Hunting at Llancaich Fawr

From 21st Oct

If you’re brave enough why not throw yourself into the spooky season and go ghost hunting at Llancaiach Fawr Manor. One of the most haunted buildings in South Wales, you’ll go on a spine tingling journey around the Manor House by torchlight. They now also offer family ghost tours for 12-15 year olds so the younger ones can get involved. But book early because they are always popular and can sell out.


 

Curious Minds at Techniquest

Oct - Nov

As the days get darker, there’s still plenty to brighten up curious minds at Techniquest, Cardiff. Generate your own electricity in the low-light area, discover how solar energy works in the environment zone, or embrace the night sky with a Star Tour in the refurbished Planetarium, now housing a brand new, 4k projector that brings the dark skies to life more powerfully than ever.

With over 100 hands-on exhibits and puzzles to discover, it’s the perfect treat for bright sparks of any age. You can add a live science show to your admission tickets too: Ghoul School runs in October and Superheroes takes over in November. You’ll need to book in advance.

 


Monsters Of The Mine

20th - 31st Oct


If you’re looking for the scream factor then Zip World in Aberdare is the place to be this Halloween. They are pulling out all the stops for a spookfest like no other, October 20th - 31st, they are hosting the ultimate Halloween Experience, Monsters of the Mine. Take a deep breath and get ready to step into your worst nightmare as your nerves are put to the test on 3 epically terrifying night rides, expect swarms of unnerving monsters and impressive fire-breathing shows. The famous seated zip-wire has just got a whole load scarier with monsters lurking in the shadows as you descend in couple darkness. This fearsome Halloween experience will be one to remember.


 

Halloween at The Royal Mint Experience

30th - 31st Oct

The Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant has planned lots of family friendly activities to keep the kids busy this Halloween. You can carve your own pumpkin, decorate a Halloween gingerbread or create a spooky chocolate lollipop. While you’re there you can also take a fascinating tour of the mint to find out how coins are made.


 

Museum of Cardiff

22nd Oct - 6th Nov

Over half term the Museum of Cardiff is celebrating the Welsh Museums Festival 2022. There are dragons to find and riddles to solve, with free trails for families to enjoy. Visit the museum for storytelling events, craft activities and more.


 

Creatures of the Ocean to take over Mermaid Quay

29th Oct - 6th Nov

Cardiff Bay will be home to 13 hand-built brick Ocean creatures when the BRICKLIVE Ocean Show heads to Mermaid Quay. Free to view, the display will feature an array of creatures of the deep, including a 10ft long Mako Shark, 7.5ft long Green Sea Turtle & Large Squid. There’s also a trail and a colouring competition with prizes up for grabs.
