Come rain or shine, find out why Cardiff Bay is a great day out!

1) Breathe in the sea air and soak up the spectacular views by walking or cycling the Bay Trail. The full route is just over 6.2 miles long, with art and heritage exhibitions along the way, as well as historic sites, iconic landmarks, bars and restaurants.

2) If you prefer adventures of the aqueous, adrenaline-fuelled kind, then hotfoot it to Cardiff International White Water (CIWW). Enjoy the thrills and spills of White Water Rafting, Indoor Wave, Stand Up Paddleboarding and more. Prices start from as little as £10.

3) Cardiff Bay Barrage is an award winning engineering project. Follow the information boards to learn more about the fish pass, sluice gates, locks and bridges; and watch the boats as they pass through the giant lock.

4) Visit the Wetlands Reserve next to voco® St. David’s Cardiff. The eight hectare site for nature conservation features wooden footpaths, which you can stroll along while observing a plethora of plants and animals.

5) The Barrage embankment is the perfect location for getting into shape in the great outdoors, against a stunning backdrop. Go for a jog, and pay the skate plaza and AdiZone open-air gym a visit.

6) Head to the waterfront, near Roald Dahl Plass, hop on a boat and take a ride around the Bay. Enjoy a scenic tour and discover more about the area, experience a fast-paced ride on a RIB, or travel to the city centre.

7) Back at CIWW, if you’d rather stay dry, then the aerial assault course, Air Trail, was made for you. Get harnessed up and cross the high rope and timber structure, towering above the white water course, and tackle the Burma Bridge, Monkey Swing and Zip Wire obstacles.

8) Those wanting to escape from the everyday should catch a boat to Flat Holm island, just 5 miles off the coast. Take a guided tour, explore an array of wildlife and learn about its fascinating history. Then pop into the cosy pub and gift shop before you sail home.
