It's summer in Swansea and that means all your favourite events and venues are having their time in the sun. Here’s what should be on your radar for the coming months.

Jurassic Earth

Swansea Grand Theatre

A thrilling interactive family show for dino crazy families. A fun filled 75 minute family show suitable for all ages, featuring astounding animatronics and excitingly realistic performances. 6 - 10 June

Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story

Swansea Grand Theatre

Seen by over 22 million people worldwide, this sensational multi award-winning West End show is coming to Swansea Grand Theatre. Experience the drama, passion and excitement as a multi-talented cast of actor-musicians tell Buddy Holly’s story, from his Texas rockabilly beginnings to international stardom before his tragic death at the age of just 22. Featuring two terrific hours of the greatest songs ever written, book now for the most successful Rock & Roll Musical of all time!

 

15 - 19 June

Swansea International Jazz Festival 2023

Maritime Quarter

Swansea International Jazz Festival is back this year, presenting some of the best of local and international artists and bands. The city will be buzzing with the cool sound of jazz from 15th to 19th June, when the festival makes its welcome return.

 

1 - 2 July

Wales Airshow

Swansea Bay

The hugely-popular Wales Airshow returns this summer with thrilling air displays in the skies over Swansea Bay. Already confirmed to appear at the free event are the Red Arrows (sponsored by DS Automobiles at FRF Motors Swansea), Typhoon Display Team, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Team Raven, and Tigers Army Parachute Display Team. The excitement is not only limited to the sky as there will be a ton of family entertainment on the ground too including replica planes, interactive military displays, a fun fair and live music throughout the weekend.

 

4 - 8 July

Blood Brothers

Swansea Grand Theatre

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences. Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi award winning Blood Brothers. Bill Kenwright’s production surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone. It has been affectionately christened the ‘Standing Ovation Musical’, as inevitably it “brings the audience cheering to its feet and roaring its approval” (The Daily Mail). The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

 

8 - 9 July

Dance Days

Swansea

Taliesin, Dance Days is back with an action-packed weekend, bringing together performers from across the UK and beyond, dancing alongside local groups in a world-class dance festival. Swansea will be buzzing when Dance Days takes over the city centre, Swansea Marina and National Waterfront Museum for a celebration of dance. The dazzling mix of dance styles, brought together at locations around Swansea is suitable for all ages – there will be something for the whole family to enjoy, and best of all it’s free. www.taliesinartscentre.co.uk

 

11 - 12 July

Dragons and Mythical Beasts

Swansea Grand Theatre

Calling all brave heroes! Enter into a magical world of myths and legends in this fantastical new show for all the family. Unveil a myriad of dark secrets and come face to face with some of the most magnificent monsters and terrifying beasts ever to walk the earth. Discover the colossal Stone Troll, the mysterious Indrik and Japanese Baku; the Tooth Fairy (not as sweet as you’d think), an adorable Unicorn and majestic Griffin. This award-winning show is back on tour direct from the West End, from the creators of the international smash hit Dinosaur World Live, who bring spectacular puppets to life.

 

21 July

Madness Plus Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club

Singleton Park, Swansea

British pop National Treasures Madness are coming to Swansea this Summer. Madness famously emerged from the backstreets of Camden Town in the late 70s and throughout their career, they’ve have had 10 UK top ten albums and 15 top ten singles.

 

23 July

Tom Grennan

Singleton Park, Swansea

The powerhouse vocalist embarks on his biggest UK tour to date. Tom Grennan has already had four UK Top 10 singles. Two of his platinum-selling anthems ‘Little Bit Of Love’ and ‘By Your Side’ scored in the Top Three most played songs of last year -both taken from his breakthrough UK No.1 album Evering Road. This tour is a landmark achievement for Grennan and the ideal chance to see him perform in South Wales.
